2022 Men’s Retreat

Small Group Questions

Session 4 - Saturday Morning - Going Home Victorious

  1. Is there anything you’ve been convicted of this weekend that you’d like the other guys to pray for and follow up with you on (i.e., accountability)?

  2. Spend time praying for each other before you pack up and head down the mountain.

Session 3 - Friday Evening - Victory Over Lust

  1. The definition for lust used tonight was: A self-indulgent craving that displaces proper affections toward God. Have you ever had a sexual craving that has displaced your affections toward God, i.e., how has lust been a problem in your life? (NOTE: There’s no need to get too specific. We don’t want to cause our brothers to stumble by including graphic details that aren’t necessary for the discussion.)

  2. When developing a robust plan for victory over lust, there were eleven points to consider. Out of these points, which ones do you want to be more intentional about moving forward to find victory?

Session 2 - Friday Morning - Victory Over Anger

  1. Out of the seven "roots" of anger (bitterness, pride, selfishness, envy, entitlement, idolatry, foolishness/immaturity), which one(s) do you find yourself struggling with most consistently? What steps can you take to uproot these sins in your life?

  2. How have you seen anger's destructive patterns in your life/relationships? What can you do to begin the process of repenting of your sin, praying for lasting victory, and pursuing humility through holiness?

Session 1 - Thursday Night - Victory Over Pride

  1. What symptoms of pride are most evident in your life? If you’re being honest, how do those attitudes/actions really seek to “ungod God”?

  2. Practically, what will humbling yourself under the mighty hand of God to a greater extent look like in your life?

Free Time Activities

One of the advantages of having our retreat in McCall is that it provides many opportunities for fellowship through various activities. Below are some organized activities we've put together for you to enjoy if you choose to do so. We have intentionally scheduled over 6 hours of free time on Friday afternoon to provide the opportunity to hang out with lots of different men from the church.

You don't have to do any of these activities! We've organized these to make your life a little easier by giving you some pre-vetted choices. Last year we had several men choose to relax on the property or go downtown. The option is yours! We hope this time provides an environment that fosters new relationships and strengthens existing ones.

Fishing

This time of year, the trout in Lake Cascade will be biting close to shore. If anyone has a boat, they could bring up, perch out further in the lake would also be a great option. As for bait, worms cast from shore, with some marshmallows to keep them off the bottom, should be the ticket. Craig Lee is helping oversee and research our fishing plans, and you can email him at craiglee23@outlook.com if you have any questions.

Mountain Biking

For mountain biking, we will be heading to the Bear Basin Trail System, which you can view here. It is close to Quaker Hill and has a variety of trails for different skill systems. Once at Bear Basin, we will split into groups based on skill level, intermediate and experienced, with routes mapped out for each group closer to the retreat. If you have further questions, please contact Lance Smith at lancesmith316@gmail.com.

Road Biking

Another weather-dependent option for Free-Time activity is Road Biking. Gene Morkert and Keith Bushardt are planning a potential road bike trip, heading north from McCall and back. If you have questions about it, please email Gene at gmorkert@outlook.com.

Pickleball

We will be heading to Elk Creek Church for those interested in playing pickleball. It has three courts, and we can play from 2-4:30.

Disc Golf

Quaker Hill Camp has an 18-hole disc golf course on its property, with a few discs available for checking out from their office and a map of the course.
