Sunday Mornings at Compass

Compass Classroom exists to equip the body of Christ to reach, teach, and train others to the glory of God.

Compass Classroom classes are additional opportunities for instruction in God’s Word each Sunday, functioning like an “Equipping Hour” or “Adult Sunday School.” They are free to attend, topical in nature, and interactive with the teacher and with table discussions.

the four paths

Scripture Interpretation

Time: 8:15 am

Begins: March 15 (11-week class)

Location: Heritage Room

Teacher: Pastor Stephen Duwe

Learn how to interpret the Bible with confidence in this 11-week dive into how to interpret the Bible (a.k.a. "hermeneutics"). We'll carefully consider the five major areas of challenge in our search for the meaning of the biblical text. Those areas are history, culture, literature, grammar, and lexical analysis. We'll also visit the history of hermeneutics and look at genre-specific interpretive principles for poetry, narrative, prophecy, and more. You'll come out of this class prepared to rightly divide the word of truth on your own.

faithful parenting

Time: 10 am

Begins: March 15 (10-week class)

Parenting is difficult, but God’s Word provides sufficient means to parent with faithfulness and confidence. In this ten-week class, we will answer the following questions and more: What is the goal of parenting? How should we instruct and discipline our children? How should men and women think differently about fatherhood and motherhood? What are the unique challenges that are present during each stage of parenting? How should we navigate the complexities of technology and purity?

exploring christianity
